ABOUT ME AND MY ART

I am a nonobjective abstract artist exploring the world, my own energies and the relationships I experience.

I am inspired by Nature and take walks every day in the regional parks in Sonoma County. What continually excites me about Nature is the order and chaos. Fundamentally, nature is cyclical and centered around life and death and carrying-on in a very predictable way. Yet, the ways Nature expresses itself is quite wild, tangled, beautiful and seemingly chaotic.

I am interested in the structure that holds things together and the freedom within it.

The freedom in my work is gestural, based on marks I make that are intuitive and expressive. I strive to create a structure that is meaningful and useful so that I can explore relationships of my marks to each other and the whole. I find beauty and love when it all comes together.

Englarging my visual vocabulary by exploring paint, tools and marks, helps me paint more expressively and more authentically.

My goal for the Master’s Class is to continue to expand my vocabulary, to be inspired by a new phsycial and social experience of shared creativity, to get feedback as I paint.

Painting does not come easily for me but one day, I hope to feel that I can problem solve in any situation and bring a painting into full blossom.
