ART SALON

Suzanne Jacquot

From time to time we put on ART SALONS where we invite a guest artist to talk about his/her art , ideas, and life as an artist. These events are LIVE ONLINE via ZOOM now and if you sign up for our mailing list you will get an invite.

Recently we had the pleasure of having Audrey Tulemiero Welch as our guest artist. She was gracious, accomplished, articulate and very generous with her life, art, and information. Audrey Tulimiero Welch is an international abstract artist who currently lives and works in Tacoma Washington. She is most widely recognized for her personal and universal explorations of place and belonging. She most recently, October 2021, had a two person show at Russo Gallery in Portland, Oregon.

You may find out more about her and her paintings by visiting her website at :

Below is a short little improptu video where Audrey and Suzanne talk about what art demands of us artists.

If you would like to be part of our mailing list, please fill our the form below.

“I have been 40 years discovering that the queen of all colors was black." Pierre-Auguste Renoir

Have you ever considered using Chromatic Black? Chromatic Black is made up of colors that when mixed together make black. Since it contains colors it will naturally harmonize with those colors in your painting.

Black is a strong color (some say non-color) because it has the power to define, to draw attention, to move the eye throughout the image, and to add contrast and depth.

Chromatic Black is made by mixing complimentary colors together or mixing the primaries - blue, yellow, red - together.

In our NEW ONLINE course, EXPLORING ABSTRACT ART, a Color Module is an important component of the course and you will learn the secrets to making great blacks and all about the properties of Color. Find out more about the course at Exploring Abstract Art.

THE VALUE OF COMMUNITY

Suzanne Jacquot

Grant says community provides a place were all artists can have a voice. share resources, network, and exchange knowledge which keeps artists vital and energized.

Suzanne finds value in community because it is a great place to learn, to get feedback from peers, and to talk about different perspectives of life.

As artists we are a unique group of people in society and community is a way to be connected to like-mined people, who care passionately about the arts. An artist community is a great place where artists can be seen and heard and get help to share our visions with the world. The larger community often looks to artists to visually express collectively relevant temperaments and thoughts to help them learn, feel, grow and unite.

How do you feel about being a part of an artist community and what do you want from it?

EXPLORING ABSTRACT ART - NEW ONLINE COURSE

Suzanne Jacquot

Exploring Abstract Art, our NEW ONLINE 14 week course starts January 12, 2020. It has taken us more than 3 years to create it and we are very excited to share it with you. It consists of 7 modules, each two weeks in length. Each module has several parts to it. We have chosen the topics carefully from what we think are the most important elements of creating dynamic abstract paintings and then taken great care to present them to you in an easy to understand way with exercises for you to practice. We all start the course together so we can share and interact through a closed FB group. We will be participating actively in the FB group and will also do two LIVE Q&A Sessions. We hope you will find it a great learning and inspirational experience!

When I am working, I am only aware of the canvas

and what it tells me to do. I am certainly not aware

of myself. Painting is a way of forgetting oneself..
— Joan Mitchell

AND THERE IS MORE!......READ ON.....

Suzanne and Grant talk about Studio Practice.

Our LIVE ONLINE Studio Practice course is an add-on to Exploring Abstract Art. It runs concurrently for 6 meetings, one every two weeks starting with the second module. It provides a more in-depth exploration of the module with additional exercises that we do together as a group and share what we are experiencing. We will be giving you demonstrations and one-on-one help. We expect this group to be smaller with dedicated artists who want to create their own studio practice. It is for all levels as in the course.
You can find out more by going to Explore Abstract Art.

Our dream is so support YOU and
YOUR creative successes in 2020.
