BECOMING YOUR INNER VISION ... SAYING YES!

FEATURED ARTIST

Janet Echelman

Taking your Imagination Seriously-----

Janet Echelman's journey to realize her creative dream..... Think Big!  And don't give up.

Our featured artist is a woman who took imagination seriously.  Janet Echelman perservered as an artist even after she was turned down by 7 art schools.  She went off on her own and painted for 10 years and received a Fullbright to go to India to paint and give exhibitions.  When her art supplies did not arrive and she had an exhibit deadline, Janet was faced with finding her way and opening to what was possible.  She had looked everyday at fisherman’s netting and thought of how she could use their materials to make light weight sculptures,  She saw the nets as a new approach to making volumeric forms without solid materials.  She was an unlikely person for she had never studied engineering, architecture, or sculpture. But her vision was so strong and her so willing to let it lead her........watch what happened.....
